Galston High School is committed to a safe and respectful learning environment for all in which bullying is not tolerated.
The Safe Project is the school’s anti-bullying plan that addresses all forms of verbal, physical, social and psychological behaviour that is harmful and involves the misuse of power by an individual or group towards one or more persons.
It is everyone’s responsibility to report bullying. Bullying is never acceptable and must always be addressed. The Safe Project identifies victims, upstanders and parents/carers as key participants in addressing bullying and the outlines the role they play.
Victim
- Report any incident of bullying to a teacher
- Complete an “I Want to be Safe” report
Upstander (Witness)
- Report any incident of bullying to a teacher
- Help the victim to complete an “I Want to be Safe” report
Parents/Carers
- Discuss issues with child
- Contact child’s teacher/year adviser/head teacher/deputy principal
After a report has been made, the school will undertake a “Sort It/Solve It” resolution between the concerned parties. Where mediation does not resolve bullying, the Code of Conduct will be applied.
