Technology is now a regular part of 21st century learning.
Galston High School provides all students access to devices and digital resources to give them the necessary skills to learn through technology. With changes in the workforce, students need to be able to use technology to collaborate and communicate appropriately.
All students are encouraged to have access to a computer and internet access at home, wherever possible, in order to complete homework and assessments and submit tasks.
Year-on-year, students are increasingly choosing to bring their own portable personal devices to school to complement their learning in the classroom. A portable device is discretional and no student will be disadvantaged in not having one.
For those students who do want to use their own device, the school recommends the following, as a minimum:
- a laptop, iPad/tablet or Chromebook
- minimum screen size of 9.7 inches
- wireless capability of 5GHz
- battery life of at least 6 hours.
Not sure what to buy or use?
It can be overwhelming when trying to decide what device to buy or repurpose for your child. To help, read our Student Technology Guide first. If you wish to purchase a device, an external supplier, Learning with Technologies, can help.
