Special Religious Education
At Galston High School, approximately 50% of students participate in SRE. SRE is delivered one period per fortnight for years 7-10.
On enrolment from 2019 onwards, parents/carers will be given the SRE participation letter to complete and return. After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE should be given to the principal in writing.
The following SRE classes are offered at Galston High School via the Galston Christian Education Association (GCEA), which comprises the following churches that are SRE-approved providers:
- Dural Anglican Church
- Hills Life Church
- The Baptist Centre Dural
- St Benedict's Arcadia
- Galston Seventh Day Adventist Church
- Dural Salvation Army Church
- Galston Uniting Church
The churches of the GCEA have agreed to cross-authorise the teaching of SRE at Galston High School.
The Baptist Union of NSW provides the curriculum. For more information regarding the curriculum, including the scope and sequence, please visit the website:

When SRE classes are held, students not attending will be placed in alternate classrooms supervised by senior teachers. Students are expected to participate in meaningful activities, including reading, private study or completing homework.
If you would like to opt in or out of Special Religious Education, please download and complete the SRE participation letter and have your child return it to the front office.
Please note, unless advised otherwise through the SRE participation letter, students will continue the same arrangement as the previous year. A parent/carer may, at any time, notify the school that they wish to change their decision by completing the SRE participation letter.
